Welcome to the Homeschool section of my blog (my absolute favorite part!) Having the ability and resources to be able to educated my children at home means most to me because it is time I get to personally invest in my children and their future. While homeschooling has its ups and downs, like almost anything in life, I wouldn’t change it for the world.
My School Experience
I was raised in a secular home with secular beliefs and attended secular schools. I never once thought about homeschooling ever!
When my husband and I decided to have children he asked one day if I would consider homeschooling our children. I pretty much said hell no! LOL
A few years later we had our daughter and I felt this love and fierce protectiveness. I started to realize how terrible my experience was in public schools. How many children were killing themselves because they were bullied. Sending my baby to the same schools I went to was out of the question.
Deciding to Homeschool
Right then I realized then that homeschooling would be the best option for our family.
It I took years to find the perfect curriculum system that we currently use. I gave up and threw in the towel several times because it was so difficult to find a program that satisfied the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
Thankfully I stumbled upon Moving Beyond the Page miraculously and that introduced RightStart Math and ABeCeDarian. LIFE CHANGING!
I follow sites like HSLDA to help me stay updated on the latest regulations regarding homeschooling. And goodness gracious, do lawmakers really try to shutdown and bully the homeschool community. I try to be meticulous in saving and documenting all of our activities since colleges and employers tend to question the validity of homeschool kiddos.
Hopefully this blog provides beneficial resources for those who may doubt their ability to homeschool, question if they have the time or even have concerns for their children’s social skills. I was there!
I encourage you to take the leap!
